CONIPHER Project: New design, new performances

11 July 2019

A design revision of CONIPHER cladding system, developed in the frame of the EC LIFE Funding, allowed the measurement of excellent performances on the eight prototypes installed on August 23rd 2018 in Le-Bourget-du-Lac (Savoie, France).

The thermal retrofitting system CONIPHER aims to promote the use of durable materials that, associated to a quality easy and rapid installation, offers a lasting high-performance solution to a fast-growing market. The system also makes photovoltaics integration easier on façades, allowing renewable energy production by commonly passive surfaces.

The collaboration between Vicat, ARaymond and INES (Institut National de l’Energie Solaire) led to the development of cladding panels combining a SMART-UP concrete plate, a mineral wool insulation layer and an innovative fixation system. Eight prototypes were produced and installed on an instrumented façade of FACT, tool located on the INES experimental platform.

Full satisfaction concerning performances. In winter, CONIPHER system allows a heating energy economy of 90%. This result is obtained thanks to anchoring system designed to reduce thermal bridges in comparison to conventional thermal retrofitting techniques. Electrical production during this period is 20% higher than standard 30° inclined modules exposed to the same sunlight. These results confirm the choice of technology (bifacial cells) and the potential of façade integrated photovoltaics.
